Since January 2012, commercial vehicle drivers have faced stiff penalties if found using any mobile device other than a hands-free device, while navigating the nation’s highways. The new law, known as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) 2012 hands free law, is pretty inclusive, it is unlawful to dial, push-to-talk or even reach for a mobile device while the vehicle is moving – no exceptions.
